Pulley for Front Altnernator System

The Front Alternator Pulley is used in conjunction with a Front Starter Kit. This fully machined, bolt on part allows the mounting of the John Deere alternator on the front of the engine, Lycoming style. The Pulley and Alternator charge the electrical system. For ease of assembly, the Pulley should be installed at the same time as the rest of the Front Starter System components, even if the remainder of the Front Alternator System components are purchased at a later date.

The $59 price includes shipping in the U.S. I accept payment by check or money order in U.S. dollars payable to William Wynne, 5000-18 HWY 17 #247, Orange Park, FL 32003, or credit cards via PayPal by clicking below:

Front Alternator Pulley Instructions

The Front Alternator Pulley is used in conjunction with a Front Starter Kit. This fully machined, bolt on part allows the mounting of the John Deere alternator on the front of the engine, Lycoming style. The Pulley and Alternator charge the electrical system. For ease of assembly, the Pulley should be installed at the same time as the rest of the Front Starter System components, even if the remainder of the Front Alternator System components are purchased at a later date.

Although the Pulley could physically be bolted on in either direction, youíll notice that it has a pronounced offset. If you put the flatter side toward the engine, youíll have much more clearance between the belt and the ring gear. Laying the components next to each other and studying them will clearly illustrate this situation.

The Pulley is an integral part of the Front Alternator/Black Prop Hub Front Starter System. My years of research in the field of flying Corvairs, particularly studying the success of our customers, has convinced me that this particular setup is the right one for the vast majority of installations and peopleís skills sets. The fact that this is the only starter/electrical system which leaves the Corvairís oil system completely stock (rear starters require extensive modifications to the oil system) is a ringing endorsement for its simplicity.

The bolts we generally use to mount the pulley and Ring Gear together are AN3-7s. Check the fit of your particular installation; depending on which style of lock nut you use, you may need a longer or shorter bolt length.
